getting ready for baby...

We're doing all kinds of interesting things these days - assembling cribs, registering for baby stuff (a million diapers? sure!) and tonight, taking our first child birth class. This should be entertaining. Having had the privilege of assisting a woman in labor and delivery during nursing school, I'm both excited and a little scared! Excited, because I saw a miracle happen with my own eyes as a brand new human took her first breath (and this was after multiple stillbirths for the couple - it was their first living baby. What a touching moment to share with them!). Nervous... because I saw the labor and it was not a pretty sight! But the lady whose knee I was supporting was such a good example of faith and determination that I'm looking to her as my role model for delivery! I will just not think about the other delivery I watched... a c-section. Umm - gross! ouch!

It will also be entertaining as my darling man gets his first dose of preparing for our little miracle's actual arrival. This is the same guy who almost passed out when I had blood drawn while we were dating. He kept swearing that he would be in the waiting room with a gun magazine during the delivery, but I think he has realized that is not an option at this point! ;-) His next adventure after the childbirth classes end will be the breastfeeding class that we're taking together. What guy doesn't want to take a breast feeding class? I married such a saint!

This weekend we're going to enjoy some time in Lexington to watch the Newmarket day parade and catch up with some of his VMI class mates and friends. I will try to actually take pictures and post them afterward!
